Fuss-Free For Summer

Beach days, dips in the pool, outdoor picnics, and endless summer fun are calling our name! If you're anything like us, you also embrace effortless, time-saving routines that prioritize protection and keeping your hair out of your face, especially as temperatures and humidity start to soar. With this in mind, here are some healthful tips and easy style suggestions that won't slow you down, so you can enjoy every ounce of the sunny season and the adventures ahead.

BUT FIRST, PROTECTION

While most of us know by now how important it is to protect our skin from the sun's rays, it is also crucial to shield our tresses. Luckily, we've got you covered - literally - our leave-in conditioners are somewhat magical as they provide long lasting impact on your hair including locking in moisture, a priority for keeping your hair healthy and preventing sun damage, plus natural heat and UV protection. Additionally, all of our stylers include the same UV protection, making them the perfect finishing touch on your hair routine all year round.

FIGHT FRIZZ & WIN

Frizz is the result of your hair literally reaching out for moisture in the air and therefore an indication that your hair is dry/lacking moisture. Though humidity is often blamed for frizz, it actually merely creates the perfect conditions for frizz to appear - more moisture in the air means dry hair is more likely to swell and seek that moisture. Because frizz is a symptom, it’s helpful to look at the possible causes and ways that me might be contributing to frizz or making our hair more vulnerable to frizz. From there we can take the right precautions and use the right products.

BRING BACK THE BRAID(S)

Not just for school girls, the braid has had a serious glow-up and is dare-we-say downright trending this summer. Not to mention the possibilities are absolutely endless.

Here are just a few examples from some of our favorite stylists:

@beautyxsophierose proves that the more braids, the better!

Pro hairstylist and EVOLVh Educator Angela Cattaneo, aka the brains behind @beyondtheponytail, is the QUEEN of braids and we can't get enough!

Pro tip: apply our UltraRepair Reconstructing Masque to your locks before putting it up into a high pony and then braiding. Now your hair is styled, protected, and working overtime on replenishing itself before you wash. Perfect for outdoor activities like biking, hiking, surfing, etc. or a workout indoors. Well + Good called UltraRepair a “Strand Savior” and suggests wearing the masque while you work out because “the heat from your body—especially the heat from your head—will help to open the cuticle of your hair, which allows for deeper penetration.”

ACCESSORIZE, ACCESSORIZE, ACCESSORIZE

Never underestimate the power of a good hair accessory. Whether it's a claw clip to gather it all up, a cute scrunchie to make your pony or bun pop, a headband or turband to get it out of your face or lend some style to an updo - you basically can't go wrong. The best summer accessory of all might just be a hat, as it provides protection for your hair AND your skin, and let's you be low-maintenance with your hairstyle while looking effortlessly put together. We're big fans.
