Honoring Juneteenth
Juneteenth marks the day, June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. It’s a day of reflection, celebration, and continued advocacy for equity, justice, and joy in Black communities.
At EVOLVh, we know that hair is never just hair, especially for the Black community. Textured hair has long been politicized, policed, and misunderstood. From being told curls are “unprofessional” to the lasting trauma of being made to feel less-than for the way hair naturally grows, the impact runs deep.
But hair is also powerful. It’s expression. It’s culture. It’s heritage. It's identity.
This Juneteenth, we honor the beauty and resilience of textured hair. We’re committed to supporting all hair types – especially curls, coils, and waves – with clean, science-backed products that nourish rather than control, and education that celebrates rather than erases.
To our Black community: your texture is worthy. Your hair is beautiful. Your story matters. And we’re here to celebrate it – today and every day.
