Get To Know The Women Behind EVOLVh | Part 01

We're honoring Women's History Month and International Women's Day by celebrating YOU - the women of EVOLVh. We'll also be spotlighting some of US - the women *behind* EVOLVh with some special content over the coming weeks.

Starting up we're spotlighting 3 of the ladies on our team!

WHO ARE SOME OF THE WOMEN YOU FIND MOST INSPIRING?

Kamala Harris because she is whip-smart, tough, fair and from the Bay Area!

Stacey Abrams because she is a world class organizer and leader and shows that one determined person can improve the lives of millions.

Dolly Parton because I just love her and she founded one of the most amazing programs ever called Imagination Library that sends books to any child, especially those less likely to be exposed to reading at a young age. Also - she just helped fund the Moderna vaccine.

I am inspired by Meghan Markle because as a child she saw something she considered unjust, wrote to the corporation pointing it out, and the corporation addressed it:

I admire her willingness to speak up for women then and now. I love that she leads with compassion.

Rachel Brosnahan is a brilliant actress and comedian with the most amazing wardrobe ever in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

WHAT IS THE LAST THING YOU READ/WATCHED/LISTENED TO THAT MADE YOU FEEL EMPOWERED?

Archewell’s list of real acts of compassion for the women in your life and in your community.

DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR CONNECTING WITH LIKE-MINDED WOMEN AND LIFTING EACH OTHER UP?

During the past year I’ve discovered several private women’s Facebook groups based on very specific common interests that are full of incredibly supportive women!

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE SELF-CARE ACTIVITIES/BRANDS TO RECHARGE SO THAT YOU CAN SHOW UP AS YOUR BEST SELF?

Sleep, yoga, hydration, and listening to music are my go-to’s for self care.

I absolutely love Herbivore’s Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist, Bakuchiol Serum, Prism Glow Serum and the Phoenix Rosehip Anti-Aging Face Oil For Dry Skin. Everytime I use these products I find myself relaxed, happy and feeling beautiful. They truly offer a spa-like experience at home!

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE EVOLVH PRODUCTS AND WHY?

Right now my favorite EVOLVh products are InstaVolume Cleansing Treatment, UltraShine Conditioner, SmartStart Leave-In and SuperFinish Polishing Balm

My hair is not fine or flat but tends to get oily quickly so recently I swapped out UltraShine Shampoo for InstaVolume Cleansing Treatment because it soaks up oil. I am so happy now! This swap demonstrates something I LOVE about EVOLVh - the products are SO flexible and adaptive! UltraShine Conditioner provides the level of hydration my hair requires. I also love the SmartStart Leave-In - I will never skip this third step because it de-frizzes, detangles, adds shine and UV protection. SuperFinish keeps my hair extra sleek and shiny and is SO light.

WHO ARE SOME OF THE WOMEN YOU FIND MOST INSPIRING?

#1 - My mother - she was a single working mom who went up the ranks in commercial real estate at a time when only men were in these positions and became the first woman president at a national real estate company. She is strong and independent yet the most ladylike woman I have ever known.

#2 - All the front line women workers (grocery stores, drivers, nurses, etc.) - most of these women have gone out on a daily basis to help during the pandemic and all while having minimum child care and becoming their kids' teachers through distant learning.

#3 - All the moms/teachers who have been working from home during the pandemic trying to maintain the balance of a job and having to be principle, teacher and lunch lady at home.

If this pandemic has taught us anything - it has taught me that when we lean on each other, lift each other up, and work together, we women are more powerful than when standing alone. And why would we do it any other way.

WHAT IS THE LAST THING YOU READ/WATCHED/LISTENED TO THAT MADE YOU FEEL EMPOWERED?

I just read Untamed by Glennon Doyle - highly recommended!

DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR CONNECTING WITH LIKE-MINDED WOMEN AND LIFTING EACH OTHER UP?

I walk a few nights a week with my best girlfriends who happen to be my neighbors and my “pandemic pod” - we also walk to the lovely wine bar in our neighborhood once or twice a month and it is so fun to just catch up, complain, encourage, and laugh.

I also love working in the EVOLVh office with the EVOLVh ladies - we laugh and lift each other up. It really is a great vibe!

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE SELF-CARE ACTIVITIES/BRANDS TO RECHARGE SO THAT YOU CAN SHOW UP AS YOUR BEST SELF?

I have been masking daily before I go to bed - something about having to sit and relax for at least 15 minutes just refreshes me and my skin. I use all different masks and change them up. I love Tata Harper, Herbivore, and Kora Organics.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE EVOLVH PRODUCTS AND WHY?

Right now I am loving the InstaVolume Mousse - fabulous volume and depth!

WHO ARE SOME OF THE WOMEN YOU FIND MOST INSPIRING?

Regina Plaza, my mom who I have watched being driven by persistence and determination to reach her goals. She has always shown me how to emit positivity and attract others into your life.

@SarahAnneStewart inspires me to focus on self-care and taking care of not only your body but your mind as well.

@NatalieElizabethEllis's go-getter attitude is infectious! She inspires me to become the best version of myself, to go after what I want, and reminds me that I can achieve anything I put my mind to.

My lovely sister, Seyla Muise, and I are polar opposites and over the years we have taught each other many things as we see the world so differently. She has taught me to keep being creative, that I don't always need to be on the go, and how to fall in love with myself and that being alone is okay.

WHAT IS THE LAST THING YOU READ/WATCHED/LISTENED TO THAT MADE YOU FEEL EMPOWERED?

This blog post, “Make Time. What you do outside of work matters.” touches on the point that even though you have a full time job, you should be making time for hobbies or side projects that you enjoy.

It’s important to make time for what matters and there is only room for distractions if you allow it.

It also leaves you wondering if you’re on social media because you’re fascinated by technology, or are you just wasting time.

DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR CONNECTING WITH LIKE-MINDED WOMEN AND LIFTING EACH OTHER UP?

I have found that sharing your goals and aspirations connects you with like-minded women. Encouraging and supporting each other in your endeavors is key and builds great relationships while being up-lifting.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE SELF-CARE ACTIVITIES/BRANDS TO RECHARGE SO THAT YOU CAN SHOW UP AS YOUR BEST SELF?

My favorite is a nice hot shower, followed by a face mask, my skincare routine, and jade rolling or using a Gua Sha. I have been loving Kari Gran’s Essential Balm, which provides a lot of hydration, as well as Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Exfoliant to reduce pore size and clear clogged pores.

Stay tuned for Part 02 next week!
